Save water when you flush the toilets in your home by filling a large plastic bottle with water, putting the lid on & placing it in the cistern. Works perfectly well for me for years.

In 6 months I have reduced my electricity bill by 27% from just two initiatives. 1) Installed LEDs throughout the house (will have paid back investment by year end) and 2) put a timer plug on the TV/Sky/DVD socket which turns off each evening at 11 and comes back on the following day at 5, as there's no one in the house at that time.
